Ten Achieve Academic Excellence

This year, as every other year, the senior class has ten
students who top the list. The person who tops the top of the
list is Sylvia Reyes — Valedictorian. Saluatorian is Rosanne
Loya.
Sylvia is graduating with a 4.0 grade average, the highest
anyone can get. Sylvia has been involved with various
activities such as Band, sweetheart, drummajorette,
secretary, president; All- Region Band; Literary Club, editor;
Spanish Club, president; just to name a few.
Rosanne is sraduating with a 3.918 average. Rosanne
has been ‘ovalved in F. HL. A.; key club; N.J.HLS S.; N.H.S.;
Student Council; Gifted and Talented and was Most Popular
this year. CYNTHIA BURKS
Lillian Robledo has a grade point average of 3.9152 and -
is graduating third out of 215. Lillian has been active in :
National Honor Society, Future Farmers of America, and was
sentinal in 79-81. She was also elected as an outstanding
member in F.F.A., named to the Society of Distinguished
American High School Students, and involved in the Gifted
and Talented.
Fourth is Lina Lopez. Lina’s grade point average is
3.9074. Lina has been involved in cheerleading; Spanish Club;
N.J.H.S.;N.H.S.; Society of Distinguished American
students; Gifted and Talented and was voted Most Studious.
ROSANNE LOYA Cynthia Burks is ranked fifth in her class. She has the BALLARD COLDWELL
grade point average of 3.8852. Cynthia has been involved in
N.J.H.S.; N.H.S.; and Who’s Who in America.
Sixth on the Top Ten list is Ballard Coldwell, with a
grade point average of 3.8852. Ballard has been involved in
Band, Beau; N.H.S.; Gifted and Talented and Who’s Who in
America and Society of Distinguished American students.
Lynn Koivisto has a 3.8771 in a class of 215. She
ranked seventh in her class. Lynn was involved in drama;
cheerleaders; Gifted and Talented; Senior Optimist; Miss
= S.H.S. and was yearbook editor.
eo eee Alan Schwartz is the eighth in his class. He had the
LILLIAN ROBLEDO grade point average of 3.8113. Alan has been involved in ALAN SCHWARTZ
_ = basketball; football; track; N.H.S.; N.J.H.S.; Gifted and
Talented; Who’s Who In America and Society of
Distinguished American High School Students.
3.7090 is the grade point average for Robert Jones.
Robert has been involved in track; Key Club; Deca; Student
Council; Teen Involvement; Folklore and N.H.S.
Last but not least is Frank Garcia. Frank’s grade point
average is 3.6964. Frank has been involved in N.J.H.S.;
N.H.S.; and Cross Country track. He has also been involved in
the Society of Distinguished American High School Students.
La Chispa congratulates these ten outstanding seniors,

School’s Out Forever....
Although it is time for graduation, this is not an ending
r us but a beginning. We are the Class of 1981, and we will
‘ known for those who excel and reach the goals set for us.
Many of us have been tremendously active and very
hool supportive, but all of us have backed Socorro High
‘hool in some way or another. Let’s keep up the good work,
id when we reunite in several years, we may all
miniscence the good old times we once had at SHS.
As in every graduating class, there are certain teachers
d friends who are to be thanked for giving us all the
nfidence and support we needed to graduate. So thank
‘u, teachers and friends, for your great assistance. We would
pecially like to recognize Mr. Eugene Jones, our principal,
