Her oldest orchid has been under her loving care since 1990. Although she loves her orchids, her orange tree, avocado tree, lemon tree, vanilla vine and other plants she keeps in her own little green- house, she does have a favorite flower, known as a Bonanza Queen BLC, which she _ has been raising since 2001. IT didn’t know what it looked like, and it ‘ bloomed within a cou- ple years,’ she said. I looked at it on the Internet, and it looked so pretty, I couldn’t believe it. It’s my favor- ite flower.” In addition to work- ing in her greenhouse, Holiday also subscribes to Orchids, a magazine published by the Ameri- can Orchid Society, and now shares the sub- scription cost with the Goshen County Library. ' Holiday provided the library with more than just a magazine subscription, however. She regularly brings her orchids to the library when they bloom to display. Hoy and Holi- day collaborated and brought Holiday’s hobby into the limelight. She made a special Monday night presen- tation, and we invited those who were inter- ested,’ Hoy said. We had about a dozen peo- ple that evening, and as a result of that presen- tation, they just sort of. decided to get together once a month.” The group’s interest seems to have dimin- ished, however. In July, there were four people at the Orchid Interest Group | meeting, and earlier this month; no one Came.
