OCRText | Cheerleaders go straight to the top The varsity cheerleading squad, sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Gary Hargrove, attended the National Cheerleader Association (NCA) summer camp and returned with honors. Cindy Lopez was named All-American Cheerleader, the highest award given at this camp, for the second consecutive year. They also brought home an excel- lence award, an excellence award in finalist competition, a spirit stick, a spirit megaphone, and two superior ribbons. They devoted their time at games, pep-rallies, and numerous events to build Bulldog spirit and undying pride in S.H.S. They had fund raisers including bake sales, burrito sales, and jackets which helped with many of the cheer- leaders expenses. They also learned new routines and all-in-all they really got down to the spirit of things when they gave confidence to Socorro’s ath- letic teams. Captain-Karen Koivisto Co-Capt.-Alice Genzalez |
