| OCRText | ‘Wheels’ reflect lifestyles A car is one of the major pur- chases made ina lifetime. It can give you a sense of freedom and independence that you can seldom find elsewhere. Transportation is a big part of high school. It is an important part of your status. If you own a car you are often admired and in some cases envied. Looks and sound are more important than economy at this age. Cars are spruced up by mags, chrome, hydraulics, roll bars, expensive stereos, fur and thick carpet. Even with rising costs, more and more students own or op- erate some motor vehicle. The increasing high price of gas, due to the shortage of oil, hasn't had too much emphasis on our lives. Some people are investing in smaller, more economical cars, but many still prefer their fancy gas guzzlers. The shortage has only slightly decreased the cruisin’ around and recreation of the student body. Opening 7 |
